Auditory Processing Evaluation

An auditory processing evaluation is a series of tests that determine if someone has an auditory processing disorder (APD). 

Purpose:

The evaluation assesses how well someone processes what they hear by simulating real-world listening tasks. It also determines the parameters of the disorder to guide management. 

What to expect:

The evaluation takes about two hours and includes a case history review and a series of tests that stress the auditory system.

What the results include:

The results provide insight into the types of auditory processing deficits and their impact on academics or work. 

What the recommendations include:

The recommendations help link the diagnosis to treatment and management. 

Who can be evaluated:

The evaluation is typically conducted on individuals age 7 and older with normal hearing.
