Hearing Aid Fitting and Repair

Hearing Aid Fitting

Once hearing aids have been selected, they will be programmed based on prescription. We will explain how to use the hearing aids, how to put them in the ear and how to remove them, how to charge the batteries and how to care for and clean them. This appointment will generally take 30 minutes. It is also a good idea to bring a family member or close friend to the hearing aid fitting so they can help remember all the information that is given and be a support figure.

Real Ear Measurements will be performed to verify real time in ear responses to sound and adjust accordingly. After the first fitting appointment, a two week follow up appointment will take place in order to address any questions that may arise. After two weeks of wearing the hearing aids, a person gets a better idea of their likes and dislikes and may want adjustments to the sounds. That is perfectly normal. We encourage patients to keep a list of sounds that may be new or different so that we can discuss them and make programming adjustments if needed. It may take some time to get used to the many sounds that a person was missing.

By working closely with your our team; you will get the most out of your new hearing aids.

Hearing Aid Repair and Maintenance

Hearing aids are comprised of tiny electrical components that may experience wear and tear. If this is the case, you’ll need to schedule an appointment with us to have the problem assessed. Whether the units have been exposed to moisture, excessive wax, debris or physical damage, we will evaluate the extent of repairs needed. Some minor hearing aid repairs can be done in the office setting in a short period of time; others may need to be sent to the manufacturer for repair.

Whether hearing aids were purchased through us or somewhere else, we will service them. Hearing aids come with a warranty when purchased new. If the warranty has expired, it is still possible to repair most hearing aids depending on the extent of the repair and the age of the hearing aid. In the event your hearing aid is severely damaged and unable to be repaired, or too costly to do so, we will work with you to determine what hearing aids would be best for your current needs.
